We began by thoroughly grinding the existing concrete surface to ensure proper adhesion of the new coating. Next, we installed a moisture vapor barrier, a crucial step for garages prone to moisture exposure. This barrier prevents future issues like delamination and enhances the longevity of the epoxy system.
On the second day, we applied the epoxy base coat, creating a strong foundation for the flake system. While the epoxy was still wet, we broadcast the Wombat mix flakes in a full coverage method. This ensures a consistent and seamless appearance, with excellent durability and slip resistance. The Wombat mix adds a timeless aesthetic that complements the functionality of the space.
Once the flake layer cured, we scraped the surface to remove excess flakes and achieve a smooth texture. We then applied a polyaspartic topcoat, sealing the system with a glossy and durable finish.
