Grind and Seal is a method for achieving a polished concrete-like appearance without the extensive time and cost associated with fully polished concrete. Instead of mechanically polishing the surface to achieve a high shine, the concrete is ground to a 60 or 80 grit level and then coated with an epoxy sealant. This process delivers a sleek, attractive appearance with less intensive treatment compared to full polishing.
In this project, we removed vinyl tiles, cleared adhesive residues, and ground the concrete to a 60-80 grit. Following this preparation, we applied epoxy primer and a urethane high-wear topcoat with aluminum oxide for a durable, multi-layered, non-slip finish.
